34”x51” Gallery Wrapped Canvas 1.5” Deep Cradle
An old Cadillac sits beneath the cover of night, its reflection stretching across rain-soaked pavement in a striking display of color and symmetry. But in Neon Knights, the familiar elegance of American automotive history takes on an entirely different personality.
Born from the same nighttime photography session that inspired Cadillac Inn, this painting revisits the scene with a more experimental approach. What began as an exploration of reflections and atmospheric lighting evolved into a bold study of color, contrast, and visual intensity.
Drawing inspiration from the striking coloration of poisonous frogs and venomous snakes, SkyzEye developed the composition around deep, almost black purples and electric yellow. The idea of the Black Mamba, including the fierce identity associated with Kobe Bryant, helped shape the painting's attitude. Vibrant reds and greens were introduced in the final stages, bringing an unexpected intensity to the Cadillac and its surroundings.
The car's long silhouette and unmistakable tailfins anchor the composition, while the reflection creates a second world beneath it. Expressive brushwork and unconventional color choices transform an ordinary nighttime scene into something surreal, energetic, and distinctly contemporary.
Neon Knights represents the freedom to experiment beyond traditional realism. By revisiting an earlier subject and allowing color to lead the way, SkyzEye explores how the same moment can take on an entirely new identity through paint.
