Original Oil Painting by SkyzEye
24”x36” Oil on ACM Panel 1.5” Deep Cradle
Sometimes inspiration is waiting just across the street.
On a rainy evening in Abilene, Texas, an old Cadillac parked near SkyzEye's studio became the unlikely beginning of a new artistic direction. Having passed the car a couple times, the artist decided to take his camera out and experiment with photographing it after dark.
The rain had left puddles across the pavement, creating a near-perfect reflection of the Cadillac's unmistakable tailfins and long, elegant body. What began as a simple photography exercise quickly became something more. The symmetry of the reflection, the warm light illuminating the nearby fence, and the deep shadows surrounding the car transformed an ordinary parking area into a scene with unexpected cinematic beauty.
In Cadillacin, the pale blue Cadillac seems to exist in two worlds: the quiet reality above and its dreamlike reflection below. Rich shadows, subtle highlights, and expressive brushwork bring a sense of atmosphere and mystery to the composition.
As the first automobile SkyzEye both photographed and painted, Cadillacin holds a special place in the artist's journey. That rainy-night experiment helped spark a growing fascination with automotive photography and the possibilities of transforming real vehicles, everyday locations, and fleeting moments into fine art.
More than a portrait of a vintage Cadillac, Cadillacin represents the moment curiosity became inspiration, and the beginning of a creative path that would lead to an expanding collection of automotive paintings.
